Baltimore & Ohio Railroad

Bill Freeland’s HO model railroad layout depicts the B&O railroad from the late 1940’s to the late 1950’s. It is a 4 level layout which has no helix anywhere and the trains can travel throughout the entire length of the railroad. The lowest level contains a staging area representing Baltimore/Washington. Leaving staging, trains travel through Brunswick, MD, and Weaverton, before arriving on level two, which has the towns of Harpers Ferry, Shenandoah Jct., Hagerstown Interchange, Martinsburg, and a large Cumberland yard. Continuing West, Two tracks represent Grafton, WV, and the other St. Louis. Level three includes, Myersdale, Salisbury Jct,, Rockwood, Connellsville, Uniontown and Pittsburg which is another staging area. Level 4 includes Buffalo and Chicago.

There are approximately 1100 feet of mainline running, 16 different stops and over 5000 trees with an autumn flavor while level 4 has the depiction of early snowfall. I run steam and diesel locomotives and the many trains include both freight and passenger service.

Since the B&O was the first railroad my father worked for, I was drawn into this particular railroad from my early childhood years.
